Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini were like a couple of high schoolers last night at Elle's Women in Hollywood Tribute.

The two arrived hand in hand and then dashed through the predinner cocktail reception still holding hands. (A big burly bodyguard led them through the crowd, making sure no one got in their way.) As soon as they made it to their seats, they hung out like a couple of cool chicks in the cafeteria.

They talked, they giggled, and they took pics of each other with their BlackBerrys.

And it didn't end there...

Coldplay Heats Up Q Awards

So much for crafting a rock-star attitude. Chris Martin, he of the newly crowned Best Act in the World Today, has reverted back to his humble beginnings.

Coldplay captured the two most prestigious gongs at the Q Awards Monday in London, Best Album for Viva la Vida, or Death and All His Friends, and the sure-to-be-disputed Best Act in the World Today.

While accepting the album prize, Martin boasted that Coldplay is "the greatest band in the world." But it didn't take Martin long to retract the claim.

"Well, not quite the biggest band," the frontman said. "U2 are on holiday. Radiohead are on holiday."

Coldplay, meanwhile, was on a roll.

Voicing Darth Vader, CNN and God has its benefits.

He of the soothing tones, Emmy-, Golden Globe- and Tony-winning James Earl Jones has been selected by the Screen Actors Guild as the latest recipient of its Life Achievement Award for his thespian and humanitarian accomplishments.

The 77-year-old star was cited for his "long and quiet devotion to advancing literacy, the arts and humanities on a national and local scale."

Jones, who will pick up the prize at the 15th Annual SAG Awards in January, will need to make some room in his trophy case.

The veteran thesp already has three Emmys, six Desk Drama Awards, two Obies, two Tonys, a National Medal of Arts, a Kennedy Center Honor and even a Grammy.

It will, however, mark his first-ever SAG Award. Your move, Oscar.

Nicole Kidman's night at Elle magazine's Women in Hollywood Tribute will be legendary—literally.

None other than silver-screen legend Shirley MacLaine will be presenting Kidman with her award at the upcoming VIP gala.

The 15th annual festivities taking place Oct. 6 in Beverly Hills will honor eight of the movie business' most powerful and celebrated women.

Along with MacLaine, I've also learned that Courteney Cox will present to Isla Fisher, while Mía Maestro will do the same for her best friend, Salma Hayek. Jane Fonda's tribute will come from Kerry Washington, her costar from the New York City reading of Eve Ensler's play Necessary Targets.

The event's host will be E!'s very own funnylady, Chelsea Handler.

Ricky Gervais as the next host of the Oscars?

Not so fast.

No doubt the Extras funnyman knows how to crack us up, but reports of him already being a leading contender for hosting duties have been greatly—well, hugely—exaggerated.

"We haven't made one single phone call," Larry Mark, who was announced yesterday as a coproducer of the 81st Annual Academy Awards show with writer-director Bill Condon (above, left with Jennifer Hudson and Mark), told me earlier today. "There has been no reaching out."

Are you watching now?

Despite what some would characterize as criminally low ratings, 30 Rock scored its second consecutive win for Outstanding Comedy Series and Mad Men notched its first win for Outstanding Drama Series on what turned out to be an evening of firsts (and fourths and elevenths...) at the 60th Annual Emmy Awards, which took place Sunday night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Big Possibilities for Lil Wayne at BET Hip-Hop Awards

Lil Wayne Kevin Winter/Getty Images

There's no hardware to prove that Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive. But right at this moment, he's certainly the most nominated rapper around.

Tha Carter III's mastermind has scored a leading 12 nominations heading into the third annual BET Hip-Hop Awards next month, including nods for Hustler, Lyricist and MVP of the Year. His chart-topping "Lollipop" is up for Track of the Year, Best Hip-Hop Video and—yay, 21st century—Hottest Ringtone.

After becoming the first album since 50 Cent's The Massacre in 2005 to move 1 million copies in one week, Tha Carter III has gone on to sell more than 2.5 million copies—both statistics that make Lil Wayne a solid favorite to take home that MVP trophy.

No slouch but still in second place is Kanye West with seven nominations, among them CD of the Year for Graduation and Track of the Year and Best Hip-Hop Video for "Good Life."

The paparazzi's favorite MC and Lil Wayne will also face off against each other for MVP, Lyricist and Best Live Performer honors.

Brangelina, Britney, Oprah Go on (World) Record

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie Lester Cohen/WireImage.com

Thank goodness for Guinness—without it, we'd have to rely on Forbes' constantly churned-out star rankings for Hollywood's most up-to-date superlatives.

The Guinness World Records 2009 is out with the latest batch of milestone markers, and, as with seemingly every other Tinseltown-skewing list out there, the phenomenon that is Brangelina has come out tops.

Not to be outdone, Britney Spears, Oprah Winfrey, Miley Cyrus and even Amy Winehouse hit the record books this year, albeit somewhat surprisingly in one or two cases, for good behavior.

Slumdog Howls as Toronto Film Fest Wraps

Slumdog Millionaire ended up the top dog.

The 2008 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival wrapped today, with the Bombay-based movie about a teen one question away from the grand prize on the Indian Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, directed by Danny Boyle and starring Freida Pinto and Dev Patel, scoring the fest's biggest kudo, the People's Choice Award. It capped a 10-day cinema orgy that featured Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston deftly avoiding each other, Roger Ebert bonked by a fellow film critic and, perhaps most shockingly, Mickey Rourke continuing to solidify his place on the Oscar map.
