Mini-Me Faces Major Hurdle in Sex Tape Suit

Verne Troyer AP Photo/Matt Sayles

Verne Troyer is finding out the hard way that you can't copyright a sex tape that doesn't exist. Or at least, that has no paper trail.

The erstwhile Mini-Me has hit yet another snag in his quest to prevent the sex tape made with former girlfriend Ranae Shrider from becoming public fodder, coming up empty in his search to locate a copy of the X-rated footage, thereby copywriting it and, ideally, preventing its distribution.

Shrider, unsurprisingly, has provided no assistance to her diminutive former better half, with her manager telling the Los Angeles Times she hasn't seen the tape since selling it to an anonymous man who approached her with a wad of cash outside their once-shared house.

"He just said, 'Here's some money,' " Shrider's manager, Holly Bannon, told the paper. "She just wanted to be rid of it, so she said OK."

Pineapple Express, The Dark Knight Darren Michaels/Columbia Pictures, Stephen Vaughan/DC Comics

The summer box office continued to cook yesterday, with The Dark Knight express well on its way to blow by E.T., and Pineapple Express off to an unexpectedly fast start.

Having passed Spider-Man for seventh on the list of all-time grossers on Tuesday, the Batman movie took in an estimated $5 million Wednesday, Exhibitor Relations said, bringing its overall domestic total to about $410 million.

By the end of the weekend, the box-office tracking firm said, The Dark Knight  "should be up to at least No. 4" on the all-time list, meaning it would have passed E.T., currently in fourth with $435 million, and positioned itself to take down Shrek 2, currently in third with $441 million.

L'Oréal: We Didn't Lighten Beyoncé. Honest.

Beyonce, L'Oreal Ad L 'Oréal

Looks can be deceiving. Apparently.

Yesterday, a new print ad for L'Oréal Paris' Feria hair color surfaced, featuring a seemingly paler than usual Beyoncé Knowles. Today, the French cosmetics giant is adamantly denying that it gave its longtime spokeswoman a case of the Michael Jacksons.

"Beyoncé Knowles has been a spokesperson for the L'Oréal Paris brand since 2001," the company said in a statement to E! News, after coming under withering online attacks suggesting the ad (on right, above) lightened more than just the hair color of the brand's famous face.

"We highly value our relationship with Ms. Knowles. It is categorically untrue that L'Oréal Paris altered Ms. Knowles' features or skin-tone in the campaign for Feria's hair color."

A rep for the 27-year-old Knowles declined to comment beyond the L'Oréal statement.

The ad is appearing in this month's Elle, Allure and Essence. So far the magazines have not said anything about possible Pantone issues.

In any case, color us embarrassed.

Morgan Freeman, Wife Headed for Divorce

Morgan Freeman, Myrna Colley-Lee VALERY HACHE/AFP/Getty Images

It's not turning out to be the best week for Morgan Freeman. Though, on the bright side, he has a rock-solid excuse for issuing as many "no comments" as he sees fit.

Just four days after a scary vehicle-flipping, surgery-requiring crash comes news that the 71-year-old Oscar winner is engaged in a "divorce action" with his wife of 24 years, Myrna Colley-Lee.

Freeman's business partner and attorney Bill Luckett broke the news, telling the Memphis Commercial-Appeal newspaper there is a "divorce action pending," but refusing to give further details.

Luckett added that the actor and his wife, a costumer, has been separated for the better part of the past year.

More from H'Wood Party Girl

Count on Britney Spears to steal the spotlight at a soiree, even when she's not even doing anything.

Brit, along with dad Jamie Spears, made a late appearance at Phil Maloof's Beverly Hills music-label bash for the Rev Theory band Wednesday night.

"The Spears family is very close friends with the Maloof family and vice versa," a source tells E!. "They came out to support them."

The popster arrived around 11:30, as the party was dying down, and held court in a roped-off VIP room at the front of the house.

"It was like an exhibit at a zoo," says another partygoer, Katie Thiele. "There was a line of people waiting to look in and see the Britney exhibit."

The San Antonio Express News first reported the marital demise, claiming both Robisons were present at the Bexar County Courthouse yesterday when their single status was restored.

A rep for Charlie Robison told the paper that he and his Grammy-winning wife "remain close friends, and their family is the priority and will continue to be."

Katee Shean, So You Think You Can Dance: Season 4 FOX

The guys may have been running on fumes, but it was full steam ahead nonetheless.

Joshua Allen and Stephen "Twitch" Boss, neither of whom has any formal training and both of whom needed a weekend hospital visit to treat dehydration, joined fellow finalists Courtney Galiano and Katee Shean for the first night of So You Think You Can Dance's two-part finale and…

Well, if we knew exactly how to spell that sound Mary Murphy makes when she's super excited—that's how we would describe it.

The fab foursome performed five dances apiece, including a solo and a contemporary group number choreographed by Mia Michaels (and costumed by Braveheart), and kept—as they say in hip-hop speak—hittin' it all night.
